Our plastic-free laundry and dishwasher packs were a world-first in 2020 and revolutionised household cleaning packs. In fact they caused such a stir, the big brands followed suit 3 years later adding cardboard pack options for their capsule packs... a major win for the planet and confirmation to us that smol things DO make a big difference. We are proud that Ariel, Persil and Fairy want to be more smol because we're committed to plastic-free solutions wherever possible. It's an area where we're constantly looking to innovate and lead by example.
Because, let's face it, the plastic packaging problem is not going away anytime soon.
Take single-use plastic laundry packs... UK supermarkets sold over 109 million of them alone in just one year (Kantar, 2022) and the vast majority is never recycled. Whilst our plastic-free packs with their patented child-impeding mechanism (that protects your smol on the way to your home) took over a year to develop, they paved the way for change in our industry and have removed many thousands of tonnes of plastic from the waste stream.
But we haven't stopped there. Launching our concentrated laundry liquid spells an end to those giant plastic jugs of detergent. You only need one laundry liquid bottle in your life, so keep your smol one and refill it from our cardboard cartons in the comfort of your own home. Our cartons use 83% less plastic by weight than a plastic bottle and create 43% less carbon through their production. All this and the recycling rates are far higher. It's one more way we're working to shake up the plastic packaging problem.
